2009.

It’s Been Quite a Crazy Year.

I had given much thought to what I’d write for my last post of the year here on dosepoet.com, but now I sit here completely brain-dead. I’m no stranger to a blank piece of paper – no writer is.

So… I’ll sum up my adventure.

2009 has been the best year of my life by far. My career took quite a different road as most of you know – I was hired in late 2008 by Cargill Corporation as a Fork Truck Operator. And though I’ve managed to design and develop a dozen websites this year as well I can truly say that without Cargill I would not be where I am today. Cargill has given my family stability with a steady income and excellent health benefits. And my job’s actually pretty fun. I rip around the plant all day on a Forklift.

It was April when the news of twins arrived. We were becoming more financially stable with every new day. Everything was really excellent except for our relationship. It was starting to suffer a bit as I was always at work. Her becoming pregnant with twins at this time was in our lives was a complete shock (I prayed that these babies were what we needed, what was going to save us).

There are 3 sets of twins on my biological father’s side of the family and Lyndsay was unaware of the twin factor. I never gave it much thought at all so I never mentioned it. After years and years without getting anyone pregnant I truly thought I was unable to have children of my own. Big mistake! I suddenly found myself announcing their anticipated arrival to friends and family here on dosepoet.com on 5/25.

Preparing.

I became quite a busy man during the rest of the year. We had Dr. Appointments almost every week, I worked as much overtime as I could at the plant and did my best to spend every extra second with our amazing Miss Meleia so Lyndsay could rest. I purchased the “Soccer Mom” Van in mid July for Child transporting and so that Lyndsay would finally have something half way decent to drive. It’s paid for itself already.

In late August we started looking for a larger home to accommodate our growing family. This is no easy task in Centerville, IA. Most places for rent here are run down and small. Relentless searching finally paid off – we found a house that was perfect. The home was for sale but we managed to get the owner to rent it to us. It was also taken off the market to give us time to purchase it ourselves at a later date if we decide to. The home is quite large, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main floor accompanied by a large dining and living area and large kitchen. A 2 car garage is also attached to the rear of the home. Upstairs boasts a beautiful hot tub room and adjoining office with plenty of attic storage. The basement is large and finished with additional storage and a laundry room.

After 2 months of painting and cleaning (mid October) I had the place ready to move in. And almost 1 month to the day later, November 20th 2009, we were blessed with the births of two perfect baby boys.

The Arrival.

If you know about random signicicance, you already know all there is to know.

Cade and Collin came crashing into our already crazy lives in a freezing cold, blizzard-y November. We were ready, but we had no idea what ready truly was. Once we were all finally home together from the hospital things really settled down.

We don’t sleep much.

We try real hard to spend time with Meleia still.

We fight.

We love.

We are a family.

Thank you 2009. I’ll never forget the year that finally meant something to my life.

And Thank you readers. I promise I wont forget how I really arrived where I am today. Words. Dosepoet.com. You.

Happy Holidays. Have a Safe 2010.
