leftovers flow through my veins
little drops of her blood
mixed with mine
as the sunshine casts shadows
little secrets locked away from me
and I’ll never have the key
I’ll never unlock her insanity

I delightfully inject
her infection smoothly delivered
it creates the perfect shiver
and I can control just a little more
I add a few scars
to the growing collection
to her leftovers

if I was bulletproof
if I could last just a little longer
I might become a little stronger
finish with her leftovers
build a new life without her
crawl inside myself and find
a new reason to survive this

it’s all too much to think about
and sometimes I blanket my mind
cover up the helpless
throw away the alone
eat a little more leftovers
until I’m full for change
ready to rearrange my unsettled life

and slowly I rid my appetite
slowly the cravings fade
for her insanity
for her leftovers -

slowly I start over.
